Please note: We sell rolled and framed art prints. The images on our website show examples of framed works to demonstrate how the prints can look in different settings. The size shown on the Product page is always the size of the paper or canvas.

About our Gliclèe art prints:

Paper works: each print is made on special matt art paper. This high quality, heavyweight (200gsm) art paper has a particularly smooth, clean surface. The museum quality is exceptionally consistent and is suitable for large, full-colour graphics or illustrations. The matt surface further enhances highlights and colour tones from the original artwork, creating stunning images. Paper prints are printed at 300 dpi. We use a 12-colour Glicèe process, the state of the art for museum quality. The inks used are water-based and toxin-free. The size of the original works limits us to 90 x60 cm (24×36″) as the largest format.

Canvas prints: Our rolled high-definition canvases are perfect for customers who want to mount and/or frame their pictures themselves. Our standard canvases are made from a blend of cotton and polyester.

Each image is produced using professional Pro-Lab processes. Our suppliers therefore offer a 100-year colour guarantee on their canvases. For production reasons, rolled prints do not have a border for wrapping on the stretcher frame. Part of the image (approx. 2.5cm per side) is used for this envelope. This is why we do not have small-format canvas pictures. On the other hand, the special features of canvas printing allow us to produce larger formats. Framed prints have a so-called mirror wrap. More on this below.

Framed paper fine art prints: Our box frames are milled from solid ash wood, stained by hand by our team and treated with a special wax to emphasise the grain. The frame has a box profile of 20 mm (front) and 33 mm (depth from wall).

Each box frame can be ordered with or without a passe-partout and is available in the colours black or white. The frames are glazed with low-reflection Perspex glass, which shows the motif to its best advantage.

Please note: The size specified for each frame refers to the size of the glass and does not include the width of the frame. So if the print is 40x60cm, the outer length of the frame will be approximately 24-28mm larger.

We also offer paper art prints with a passe-partout. 40x60cm art prints without a passe-partout fit exactly into a 40x60cm frame, while prints with a passe-partout are smaller so that they fit into the window opening of the passe-partout. The passe-partout has a height of 2.4 mm. The width of the passe-partout is 5.08 cm. Pay particular attention to this for smaller sizes, as it does make a difference.

Stretched or framed canvas prints: We offer our canvas art prints with a split frame. A split frame has a small gap between the canvas and the frame so that the picture ‘floats’ in the frame, so to speak. This makes a modern, contemporary impression. The stretcher frame measures 20mm at the front and 38mm in depth, measured from the wall.

We use stretcher bars with a thickness of 38mm made from durable, knot-free pine wood. All the picture frames we use for our framed canvas prints are made from sustainably sourced wood.

Our stretched canvas art prints are produced using a 12-colour museum-quality giclée process before being hand-stretched onto a wooden frame, which has been milled with a curved profile to minimise contact with the surface of the canvas and avoid marks and tears on the surface.

Each corner is then folded tightly over each edge and secured to the frame with staples. We use finger-jointed stretcher bars to tighten the corners and prevent warping. For larger sizes, we add wooden wedges at each corner to ensure the surface of the canvas remains taut and can be easily re-stretched in the future.

Our framed canvas prints are produced using the same process as above, but with the additional option of adding a frame.

Wrapping involves wrapping the edge of an art print around the side of the stretcher frame so that the canvas can be displayed without a frame.

For example, a 30x45cm canvas is printed onto a 40x55cm canvas so that 5cm can be wrapped around the frame on all sides of the image. 38mm covers the sides of the frame, while 12mm covers the back.

When wrapping, there are different ways of dealing with the ‘white border’. We had to decide on a standard and chose mirror wrapping. The image is mirrored in the area of the white border so that it looks as if it is simply continued.
